Japanese 1950’s Graphic Design Exhibition

The printing museum in Tokyo are currently hosting an impressive collection of works of Japanese graphic design in the 1950s. The exhibition features over 400 items, including newspaper and magazine advertisements, pamphlets, wrapping paper, packaging, and books, in an attempt to demonstrate all aspects in the development of graphic design in the 1950s as the foundations of postwar design were being laid.

There is some formidable work on showcase with names like by Yusaku Kamekura, Hara Hiromu, Takashi Kono, Ayao Yamana, Ryohei Yanagihara and others featured. Take a look at some of the images from the catalogue below thanks to Grainedit.
