Came back to home base for a bit before the next trip out. Is always good to chill with Chris, Wood, Yoyo and Linda in Shanghai.
An old school gadet. Through the scope, the boring world seems different. Not in a good way or a bad way, but just ... different.
I went to 2 Japanese restaurants 2 nights in a roll, different locations... Dinner with Adam last night, and tonight with my folks. They both picked "Tian Jia". Little did I know, this restaurant chain (5 locations in China) is known for their tunas. I had alot of tunas between the 2 nights put it that way. But, no complaints, they are damn good.
"Figures" are in our line of work, so I do pay attention to what the market has to offer, and recently, I came across this character. "Hai Bao" is the mascot for 2010 Shanghai Expo China. Yes, 2010, my friends. And this is on sale now already, imagine how many they will sell over the next 2 years.... There are mixed comments and emotions about THIS being the mascot character, one of our better known designers here in Mainland actually said this looks like a "squeezed out toothpaste". ... Well, the client accepted the design, so what you gonna do?! But to be fair, the craftmenship is actually very good on this vinyl piece. Cute little bugger... I don't think they will have a problem selling over 500,000 pieces of this... while we limit our runs to 2000 pieces... we are in the wrong business!!
