Biography

Born, South Bronx, 1961, grew up within the Betances Housing Complex at 146 St. and Brook Avenue, 3 blocks from Grandmaster Flash...first subway cars painted in the winter of 1975/76...Curated first true Graffiti exhibition at Fashion Moda in 1980, involved in both on camera and behind the scenes with Wild Style and Style Wars. Part of the first wave of Graffiti artists to hit Europe in 1980/81. In 1980, pioneered Graffiti installations and exhibitions through out the United States, Europe and Asia up to the present. Collections such as Museum of Modern Art, NYC, Gallery Thomas, Munich, Speerstra Collection, Switzerland, Ludwig Museum, Germany, as well as many private collections worldwide...Designs for companies such as Absolut Vodka, Levi's, Stussy thru Fender Musical Instruments...Creative force behind Brook Avenue clothing line.

I had the opportunity to go visit my friend KAWS in his Brooklyn studio, which is always fun... He always gets me pumped, and gives me the energy to go and whip up some stuff... We then went over to Jose Parla's studio... just sitting there and looking at his work made me feel that I'm in the wrong line of work... ....damn! C.
