Was Invited by Flux down the London Premiere of Grant Gee's Documentary 'JOY DIVISION' at the Curzon Theatre in Mayfair.
A rather a wet night but some how that set the tone for the Documentary on one of the Greatest Bands to come out of Manchester. Seeing the images on screen, I had no idea that Manchester was so bleak & desolate in the 60's & 70's...how things have changed...
This documentary was by far one of the best I have seen...no holds bared & in many points extremely funny. These 4 men who changed the Soundscape of a City, a Country...fuck it even the world. They were so ahead of their time, & their sound so distinctive.
& Mate that Mr Curtis moved like a man possesed, it was hypnotic...I am sad to say that I never got a chnace to see Joy Divison, when Ian Cutis comitted Suicide I was only 14 years Old, & just really beiginning my musical Journey into things that were more than Pop & my folks collection.
I am happy to say that I did get into NEW ORDER later on, & as a youth had no idea that they were the 3 from Joy Division...took me a year or 2 to work that oe out...call me stupid, but it took me that long.
Sadly we did not stay for the Q&A with Grant Gee & Peter Saville , but the Baby Sitter, Grandma was on a time limit...& we had to be back.
All I can say whether you like Joy Division or not this documentary is for anyone into Music, this is a must see....so take the time, spend the money & go see it...I believe you will not be disapointed.
Be well,
