OG STATUS

Posted by DANTE ROSS on October 18, 2007 7:39 PM | Email

I'm pleased to post the first episode of my online show OG STATUS on Riottt.com. I was psyched when Sky Gellataly approached me to do this project. It’s based on my long standing column in everybody’s favorite rag MASS APPEAL which was created in an attempt to shed some light on seminal but oft unrecognized members of New York’s creative community. I want to thank all the people involved in this project that being Sky, Jay Maldonado, Kevin Craft and especially my subject Boogie. Boogie is an amazingly talented photographer currently living in Brooklyn New York and was raised in Belgrade Serbia. His book ‘IT’S ALL GOOD” was published by Powerhouse Books last year and is a study of drug addicts, gang bangers and street corner hustlers in Brooklyn New York. It’s a compelling, dark, beautiful and terrifying piece of work and like all good art it’s thought provoking. Boogie had his first child shortly after we shot this so to Boogie, his lovely wife and his first-born daughter Maya we say Congrats! I would also like to thank my friend MacLean Jackson at Mass Appeal. Mac is my editor, my bro and champion at the mag. He edits with a light hand and when I was ready to throw in the towel recently he persuaded me to hang in there. Thanks Mac a lesser person wouldn’t be able to deal with my baloney. Enough of me already go watch the show. This is the 1st part of a 3 part interview cant wait to show the world who I interviewed for the 2nd show but you’ll have to just wait and see! Enjoy D Ross NYC
