The Back Home Project

Posted by Neal Santos on December 19, 2007 12:34 AM | Email

The Back Home project is a multi-media collaboration between painter Amanda Williams [awgallery.com], sonic architect: ESCO [myspace.com/escointernational], and 2 video artists: Olalekan Jeyifous and Emmanuel Pratt [slapink.com]. It is a captivating and experimental audio-visual collage that uses the "morphing" of abstract paintings as a backdrop to an array of visuals that are timed to a soundscape which alternates between frenzied and melodic. The video is a free-flowing contemplation on the idea of "returning back home" and reflects the fact that the piece was created via email interaction by a group of individuals collaborating from completely different cities: ESCO: Washington, D.C., Amanda: Oakland/Chicago, Olalekan: Brooklyn, and Emmanuel: Johannesburg.
